The Dell Vostro 1700 17" notebook is the largest model in the PC maker’s new Vostro business laptop lineup launched July of 2007. It is big, heavy, and of a strong build, ideal for a small business owner or worker. It is available in black and has a numeric pad similar to the keyboard.

The Dell Vostro 1700 is customizable. The owner will have to specifically request which hardware and software it will be loaded with. This means it can be configured to please the user, whether it is a budget type or a powerful laptop.

The Dell Vostro 1700 Notebook features the latest generation Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, which allows it to offer up to 28% greater performance than the prior generation. Core 2 Duo comes with 2.4 GHz(Processor Speed) but if you are looking for a range like 5.8 GHz then this might not be a good option. The 17-Inch widescreen display model offers high pixel resolution of 1440 x 900 or 1920 x 1200 anti-glare displays with TrueLifeTM technology, an excellent choice for those who love to watch movies in their laptops, or for those who play games with high graphic requirements.

The Vostro 1700 also offers a choice between either a GM965 chipset incorporated with GMAX3100 graphics, or aPM965 paired with committed NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128MB video card, or a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT.

This notebook is offered with up to 4GB of system memory which gives fast performance and allows the user to multitask effciently. Switching from one window to another would not take time at all. The Vostro 1700 can also come with up to 320GB of data storage capacity. Even its Wireless-N WiFi capabilities are impeccable. You can connect even in spots with poor coverage.

The Vostro 1700 comes with Vista Business, Vista Home Basic and Vista Home Premium. Windows XP is not yet available for the 1700, but is available for other models. For some people this is a problem because most still prefer to use XP and some programs are not yet compatible with Vista.

Several convenient options are also included with the Dell Vostro 1700 Notebook. One is the ability to access contacts, a calendar, and files in seconds with the one touch Dell MediaDirect Technology. The 8-in-1 media card reader also makes it possible to transfer media files in a flash.

The networking features include wireless LAN supporting 802.11n draft standard optionally, an Ethernet LAN, a 56k modem, an optional Bluetooth, and a choice of AT&T, Sprint and Verizon mobile broadband modules. It can also be ordered with a 2.0 megapixel camera, and weighs about 7.62 lbs. and further, depending on the configuration. It comes with a one year warranty.

Dell Vostro driver, CD & download versions are readily available in ISO format, nothing of very much in ISO 15693 format.
