Unlimited Browser Opens When I Clicked a Link from my Email

I received an email from my friend about a new apple product posted in techcrunch. I wanted to see the product hence clicked the link but it kept on opening the windows forever. It killed all my ram living me no other solution than turning off the computer. Do you know why it happens?
